The small group of abstract
artists of the Denise René Gallery
introduced by Robert Jacobsen and Richard
Mortensen met with a very good reception in Copenhagen.
J. D.,in particular, had several personal
exhibitions (see Annex), all very successful: for instance, the 26
paintings exhibited in 1965 at Hybler's were all sold to Scandinavian
collectors. Moreover, J. D. participated in the big artistic
events after the war, such as " Tokanten ", " Linien ", " Klar Form
"... It is quite remarkable that about a quarter of his work belongs
to public and private Danish collections (see Annex).

In 1965, Dr Erik Andreasen
wrote (see Biblio) :
| " ... During Deyrolle's exhibition, the
artists as well as the public realized that it was possible,
even in a rigid and geometric composition to express the finest
poetry, the richest feelings and that possibilities should be
countless for the artist who had a gift for abstract art.
This is why Deyrolle's exhibition in 1949 became " a milestone
" in the Danish artistic life. (...) |
