| In 1944, J.D.
began to record many informations related to his work in a " log-book
", i. e a list of his paintings with the title,
an opus number, the size, the place of the signature, the date of
achievement... Deliberately, he never wrote down any date on the painting
itself, with two or three exceptions. These informations were
completed by a brief description and a skeletal drawing of the |
composition, to be replaced by a photograph
towards 1957 . At the end of August 1967, the third volume of the
logbook was already half-filled: " Philibert ", the last painting
recorded bore the number 881 (see § Painted
works). Besides the three volumes, the log-book included
another notebook recording other informations. |
