Cimaise, the art magazine was founded in November 195 3 by Jean-Robert Amaud, a gallery manager and John F. Koenig, a painter who was in charge of the secretarial work.  The first issue was illustrated by an original linocut by J.D. At the beginning, the main contributors were: Julien Alvard, R.V.Gindertael (Chief editor), Michel Ragon, Claude-Hélène Sibert and Herta Wescher

In the 50s, the Arnaud Gallery (which opened in April 1951, 34 rue du Four) showed a series of six exhibitions called " Divergences " organized by one of the abov6-mentioned contributors to Cimaise.  J.D. participated in each of them.

In the issue of June 1956, a major survey on J.D. by Herta Wescher was published (see Biblio.) Its cover was illustrated by an original colour lithograph specially designed by J.D.
